So you've picked the perfect birthday card, but, now the hard part, what to write in it? There's always the classic plain old 'happy birthday', and of of course it's the thought that counts, but, sometimes you want to add a personal touch, we discuss three of our favourite techniques below.
Tell a funny story!Ever been in a ridiculous situation with your friend? Still laugh about it today? Perfect! Tell them you're so glad they were born so that you could have that experience together, for example:
"I'm so glad you were born so that we could be chased through the streets of Peru by that llama!"
Maybe your friend has been of great help to you recently or maybe they are just always there when you need a chat? Birthdays are a great opportunity to tell people we're thankful they are in our lives, for example:
"Happy Birthday to a true friend, you're always there for me and I'm very lucky to have you in my life."
Talk about the year they were born
Everyone loves a bit of trivia, especially if it is particularly relevant to them. Do a little internet research and find out what happened the year your friend was born and use that to form your message, for example:
"In 1989 the Berlin Wall came down, the Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize and you were born, what a year! "
