Hero’s Staff Pick: Home Candle by Field Day

"I've loved the scent of the Home candle from Field Day ever since we got them in, and finally treated myself to one this month. It's a beautiful, cosy fragrance and not too strong. I'm quite sensitive to artificial scents and lots of scented candles are too strong for me, but this one is perfect - a light, natural smell that fills the room without overpowering it. The tea scent really comes out once it's lit, which I love. I also love that it's refillable, cutting down on waste, and that Field Day are a local company with great sustainability ethics."

Jenny’s Staff Picks: Mark’s Inc Tokyo Edge Notebook Calendar, Zebra Mildliners, Uniball Zento Flow

I have found a new favourite diary in the 2027 Marks’s Inc Tokyo Edge notebook calendar. These lovely little calendars come in 3 sizes XS, S and M. I decided to go with the small size, at 186mm x 135mm it is perfect to put in your bag and take on the go. Due to the monthly calendar style layout, it is also much thinner than a typical weekly style diary and therefore much lighter. I also love the range of fun colours to choose from - the neon pink is so vibrant and brightens any day of planning.

To pair with my new diary I got 2 Mildliners and a Uniball Zento Flow. The Mildliners come in way more colours than regular highlighters so there really is a shade for everyone. I enjoyed matching each colour to different areas of my life, such one for work tasks and another for birthdays and events etc. The Zento Flow is such a smooth pen to write with and the plastic upper barrel and matching metal grip make it look much more expensive that its £10.95 price point. This pen would make the ideal gift, and could be paired with a notebook or even the Mark’s Notebook Calendar.

Alice’s Staff Picks: RO-BIKI Notebook, Traveler’s Tokyo Edition & Livework Momossi Pencil Case

I chose three items this month. To start I chose two refills for my Travelers Notebook. I have had a Travelers since March and I love it! It has become my sketchbook, notebook and junk journal all in one. I chose a Ro-Biki cross grid notebook, the bigger size fits well in the Travelers though is slightly slimmer than their own refills. The paper is lovely and held up well with all my fountain pens, I also like the rounded edges of the paper. As with all my refills I decorated the cover with stickers.

I also chose a blank refill which I like to use as a sketchbook. The paper is great for fountain pens, coloured pencils and even watercolours, it shows off the quality of each medium very well. The blank refill was from the Tokyo Edition and the cover features beautiful letter-pressed illustrations.

I have wanted a small pencil case to keep my coloured pencils in and the Livework Momossi was a perfect choice. It comes in three colours, I went for pink. It’s made of a durable, padded fabric so your stationery is well protected. It also features some very cute details like a smiley face on the zipper pull and a little patch. It fits perfectly in my Delfonics pouch along with my Travelers Notebook.

Hollie’s Staff Picks: Flower Press by Studio Wald & Coffee Shop B6 Notebook by Yuru Log

Flower Press by Studio Wald: My flower press is beautifully made and feels like such a special, thoughtful piece to have at home. I’ve really enjoyed learning how to use it, the mini guide enclosed was easy to follow. I’m currently pressing flowers from the garden, hydrangeas and English Lavender. I can’t wait to see how they turn out! There’s something really lovely about being able to preserve flowers that disappear after each season. I’m already thinking about all the little projects I can use the pressed flower for. A botanical diary is top of my agenda! It’s made with wood and has a stunning design painted on the front. I have to wait 2-4 weeks before opening it, it’s currently sitting on my kitchen shelf! A lovely product for anyone who enjoys flowers, nature or creative hobbies. I’m so pleased with it! 🌸

Coffee Shop B6 notebook by Yuru Log: I absolutely love this little notebook, the design is cool and vibrant. As a busy mum I’m always making lists and jotting down notes. This notebook is the perfect size to pop into my handbag. The paper quality is lovely and each page is like a little work of art. It’s a soft cover and you can purchase additional covers to keep it looking fresh. A little bit of stationary happiness, to spark some joy!

Carys’ Staff Picks: Traveler's Zipper Case Refill & Field Notes Expedition Notebooks

This month I’ve been using the Traveler’s Company Passport Size Zipper Case Refill while travelling to keep all the little bits and pieces I pick up along the way in one place. Receipts, tickets, business cards and other bits of paper can otherwise end up stuffed into pockets or lost in my bag, so this has been really handy for keeping everything organised. When I get home, I use everything I’ve collected as a starting point for journaling about the trip.

I’ve also been using the Field Notes Expedition Waterproof Notebook while working on an archaeological dig in Greece, and it’s been really useful for keeping my field notes in one place. The waterproof paper is especially handy on site, where notebooks can get a bit battered, dusty and exposed to the elements. It’s also sturdy enough to survive being thrown in and out of my bag throughout the day. It even has a ruler on the back page which has been especially useful when making diagrams on site.

One thing to note is that, because it’s made from stone paper, regular inky pens can take a while to dry and may smudge. I’ve found that a fast-drying ballpoint or pencil works much better. It’s a great option for anyone who needs a notebook that can handle being used outdoors.

Emily’s Staff Picks: Pilot Iro-Utushi Dip Pen, Tom’s Studio Sakura Ink Set & Pilot Momiji Cartridges

This month, I’ve been testing out the Pilot Iro-Utushi Dip Pen in Medium. I’ve wanted a dip pen for a while to finally use all the shimmer and glitter inks sitting on my shelf (like the Diamine All the Best ink pictured!). The pen itself is wonderfully lightweight and is so smooth to write with, holding plenty of ink per dip. It has quickly become the ideal companion for my glitter inks while saving my fountain pens from potential clogs.

I also used it to test the Tom’s Studio Sakura Ink Set. I love love love the unique colours in this collection - they're bright and colourful without being overly vibrant, giving them a wonderful depth. Keep in mind that these mini bottles are tricky to use directly with fountain pens unless you fill the converter or cartridge with a syringe (which is a bit advanced for me I'd say), so they are best enjoyed with Tom’s Studio cotton cores!

Finally, I’ve been trying the Pilot Iroshizuku Momiji (Autumn Leaves) ink cartridges in my Pilot Kakuno. At £10.95, cartridges are a brilliant, hassle-free way to explore the range before committing to a full bottle. It’s a gorgeous, rich pink with a subtle golden sheen in the right light, and even with a fine nib, hints of that shimmer show through beautifully on the page.
