This notebook features a pine forest painted by Hasegawa Tohaku, a renowned artist from the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The cover is designed based on his masterpiece "Pine Forest Screen" and is available at the Tokyo National Museum. A portion of the sales will be donated to disaster relief efforts.

The cover comes with an informational card that gives an overall view of the entire original Pine Forest painting, which stretches across a left- and right-hand screen. You can bend the card and stand it up to have a miniature version of the original.

Hasegawa Tohaku was born in 1539 in his hometown of Nanao, Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa Prefecture where he painted Buddhist pictures until his 30s. He then moved to Kyoto upon being discovered by Sen no Rikyu and painted Pine Forest in his 50's. Some believe this image was painted from memory, reminding Tohaku of his lost son and the coast of his hometown. The artwork evokes a sense of comfort and nostalgia, resonating with all viewers regardless of time and place. Carry this techo with you for added peace.
