iyo okumi: Hobonichi Pencil Boards

This pencil board is specially made for each of the Hobonichi Techo book sizes. This item will keep your ballpoint pen from slipping and help prevent bumpy writing marks from appearing, improving the writing experience as a whole.

Three designs based on embroidery artist and illustrator iyo okumi’s series of embroidered work Happy Tea Time have been turned into pencil boards.

The A6 size design is Teapot Shelf. Teacups and saucers, fruits and biscuits, an hourglass and other such items that are must-haves for tea time are lined up on the shelves. On the back, a little girl wearing a dress and a bear are having a merry little chat.

The A5 size Taste Good showcases a symmetrical world where the animals on Earth and fantastical creatures coexist. It’s like a lovely tapestry that depicts them celebrating a peaceful moment enjoying tea or a drink.

The Weeks size Group Party is a mystical design, like an invitation to a tea party in a utopian forest, with no boundary between reality and the Other World.

The boards are printed with delicate embroidery work that has been stitched onto a linen fabric with colorful thread. Not only are they beautiful to look at, but the fur on the animals, the leaves on the trees, and flowers and grass are all overflowing with vigor and energy.

The back has markings at 1mm intervals along the long edge, so it can also be used as a ruler.

The corner of the pencil boards include a “Today” tab, which will act as a bookmark to show which day you’re on if you put it between the pages of your techo.

Use this to match the techo cover and Weeks also designed with iyo okumi’s embroidery.
